A faja is a high-compression garment commonly used after body-contouring procedures and for everyday shaping. Unlike basic shapewear, a well-designed faja uses targeted compression and structured construction to support the waist, abdomen, back and other areas of the body. If you are wearing compression after surgery, always follow your surgeon's specific instructions first.

Depending on the style, BDY features can include targeted lower-abdominal compression, high-back coverage, a curvier waist-to-hip pattern, progressive hook rows and BBL-conscious construction. Use your current waist and hip measurements and compare them with the size chart for the exact garment you are purchasing. Measure your waist at its smallest point and your hips at the fullest point. Faja sizing is not the same as regular clothing sizing, so do not choose based on the letter size you normally wear.

No. More compression does not automatically mean a better fit. Starting too small can distort the garment, cause rolling or creasing and place excessive pressure in the wrong areas. Use your measurements and the product-specific size chart. If you want stronger compression, choose a garment designed for a higher compression stage rather than simply forcing yourself into a smaller size.

This is common, especially with curvier or post-BBL proportions. Start with the size guidance for the specific product and prioritize getting the garment safely over your hips without excessive compression to the buttocks. BDY garments are intentionally designed with a more pronounced waist-to-hip difference than many traditional fajas, and eligible garments can also be altered later for a more customized fit.

Yes, but post-operative swelling can make pre-op sizing less predictable. If you are purchasing before surgery, use the product's current sizing guidance and discuss expected swelling and compression needs with your surgeon. No. Included items vary by product. A matching bralette, extender or other accessory is included only when the product listing specifically states that it is included or the garment is sold as a set. Please review the product title and description before ordering rather than assuming every BDY garment includes the same extras.

When a BDY set includes a bralette, the matching size is selected according to the set's sizing system. The bralettes use soft, stretchy fabric to accommodate a range of bust sizes. If your specific product includes a bralette, review that product page for the most current sizing details.

As a general BDY guide, Stage 1 is typically used during early recovery when swelling is more significant, while Stage 2 provides stronger compression as swelling decreases. Many customers transition around the first few weeks after surgery, but timing varies greatly by procedure, healing and surgeon preference. Your surgeon's instructions always take priority over general garment guidance.

New high-compression garments often feel stiffest during the first 3–4 days and gradually become more comfortable as the fabric settles and conforms to your body. Use any included extender only if your specific product includes one, follow the How To Put On Your BDY Faja video above and give the garment time to settle before assuming you need another size. Severe pain, numbness, discoloration or difficulty breathing is not a normal break-in sensation — remove the garment and contact your medical provider.

A compression garment should feel snug and supportive, but you should still be able to breathe normally and move safely. Tightness alone can be normal during break-in, but severe pain, numbness, tingling, changes in skin color, difficulty breathing or pressure on incisions should not be ignored. Remove the garment and contact your surgeon if you experience those symptoms.

Often, yes. High-compression fajas can look surprisingly small before they are put on. Watch the How To Put On Your BDY Faja video above before deciding that the garment does not fit. Properly positioning the legs, hips and waist can make a major difference.

Creasing usually means the garment and your torso length or body contours are meeting at a natural fold point. It can also happen when the garment shifts downward or when the torso is slightly too long. Adjust the garment upward, check your straps and use lipo foam or a small board underneath the fold when appropriate. Persistent creasing can often be corrected with a torso-shortening alteration.

Rolling can happen when the leg opening is too tight, the garment is sitting too high on the thigh or the grip on the leg lace has weakened. Reposition the legs first and make sure they are lying flat against the skin. If the opening is genuinely too tight, The Faja Doctor offers leg-widening and other mail-in alterations.

Foams and boards are commonly used during early post-operative recovery, but there is no universal date when every patient should stop using them. Your surgeon's protocol should come first. As swelling decreases and you move into later-stage compression, many women reduce or discontinue foam and board use. BDY also offers recovery accessories for women whose surgeon or recovery plan calls for continued use.

We recommend removing or sufficiently lowering the garment for bowel movements rather than trying to use the crotch opening. It is cleaner, more comfortable and reduces the chance of contaminating the garment.

Close all hooks and zippers and place the garment inside a laundry bag. Wash gently with mild detergent. Avoid bleach and routine fabric-softener use because softener can relax compression fibers over time. Washing inside a laundry bag also helps protect hooks, zippers and other hardware.

Air drying is the gentlest option. If you use a dryer, keep the heat low and keep the garment inside a laundry bag. Excessive heat can damage stretch fibers and silicone grip.

Not for routine washing. Fabric softener can relax stretch fibers and reduce compression, so avoid it when your goal is to maintain the garment's firmness.

Possibly. Compression garments naturally loosen with wear, and post-operative bodies can change quickly as swelling goes down. An alteration does not necessarily mean the original size was wrong — it is often the next step in keeping compression fitted as your body changes.

Common services include overall downsizing, waist and hourglass adjustments, lower-abdominal fit adjustments, torso shortening, leg shortening and leg widening. What is possible depends on the garment's construction and where the adjustment is needed.

Yes. Leg shortening is available through The Faja Doctor when the garment construction allows it.

Generally no. Torso length can often be shortened, but adding meaningful torso length to an existing compression garment is usually not practical without compromising its construction.

Major strap conversions are not always possible because straps help anchor and support the garment. For simple extra length, removable strap extenders may be the better solution. Contact The Faja Doctor before ordering an alteration if you are unsure what is possible on your exact style.

No. Approved returns are issued as store credit in the form of a digital gift card after the returned merchandise is received and inspected, subject to the current return policy and applicable deductions.

Once a garment has been altered specifically for you before shipment, it is considered final sale and is not eligible for return, exchange or store credit.

Inspect your order as soon as it arrives. If something is damaged, defective or incorrect, contact BDY within 48 hours of delivery so the issue can be reviewed and resolved.

Orders are shipped in protective outer packaging, with BDY-branded product packaging inside where applicable.
